I visited the masses of snow geese this week. There were probably close to 25,000 in a single sandpit lake. It was hard for me to get a good perspective of the group with the 400mm lens because every picture is just a small portion of how many were really there.

See if you can count all the birds in this photo... And let me know.. :P

Sandhill Cranes

I drove south of the river and saw a few Cranes. I think the recent snow storm and cold temps have kept a lot of them south longer.

Waterfowl along the Platte River

Some sort of migratory ducks I think.

Waterfowl along the Platte River

Some Mallard ducks. I think I know what they look like at least.

And more ducks.

Light Reflecting off a pond at Fort Kearney State Park

Sort of artistic maybe?

Seagull

Seagull.

Snow Geese Migration

The mass of snow geese from a distance. They all started heading east for some reason. Maybe to further clog the lakes around Grand Island.

"N" stands for Nebraska! If it doesn't look like an N to you your looking at it the wrong way.

Below are a few pics from a trip I took a couple weeks ago.

"Some kind of migratory ducks" are Northern Pintails.  You can see the long tailfeather on the flying birds.  There are also quite a few of them in the photo "And more ducks": note the brown faces with white coming up the neck behind the brown.
